I’m having a small wedding and I’d like to keep it to close friends and family. I have some single friends. Do I have to invite a guest for each single friend?
Many couples will often include the option of “+ guest” for their single friends, but the option is open to invite friends as separate individuals. The only exception to this rule is if your single friend is engaged or has a live-in partner.
If you do decide on this path, ensure that there are no exceptions to this rule or you run the risk of upsetting your other guests who have come alone to your wedding.
As always, be empathetic and sensitive to the feelings of your friends and family when explaining your position on this matter (e.g. “John and I are having a small intimate wedding and so we’ve only invited our closest friends and family”)
