As a monetary gift, how much cash is appropriate?

The bride and groom prefer cash as opposed to gifts because they’ve been together for so many years and already have what they want. What is an appropriate gift of cash? The bride’s parents are good friends of ours.

There are many different factors that will determine how much is appropriate for you to give to the bride and groom.

One item to consider is how much each place setting may be at the wedding reception. Your close relationship to the bride’s parents will also play a part in your calculations. Having said that, you must also think of what is financially feasible for you. Once you have considered all these elements, if feasible, you may want to add a little more to help cover some of the other costs related to the wedding. For some, a gift of $200 would be difficult, for others, it may not be an issue so I am uncomfortable giving you a specific amount. Gifts should never be expected. All gifts from guests should be appreciated regardless of how big or small they may seem.
