Do they have to be carnations?
I’ve noticed that men tend to have carnations as their boutonnieres. Is this mandatory? I don’t really like carnations and I’d rather have the boutonnieres match my bouquet.
Carnations have often been a practical choice to use for the men’s boutonnieres primarily because they will appear fresh throughout the day and because they are affordable. It is, therefore, not a mandatory flower by any means! So, feel free to go ahead and coordinate the boutonnieres with your bouquet!
