The groom’s parents are divorced. Which parent is listed first in the wedding program – the groom’s father and stepmother who raised the groom or the groom’s mother who has played a small role in his life?
With wedding programs, there are fewer ‘must do’s than the traditional wedding invitation. It really depends on the approach you’d like to take.
Some couples like to plan their wedding programs to complement their wedding invitations. If that’s the case, for consistency reasons, you would follow the example set in the wedding invite to determine which of the groom’s parents should be listed first on the wedding program.
Another idea would be to give special thanks to the groom’s father in the wedding program. In doing so, the groom can acknowledge his close relationship to his father, regardless of which parent is listed first or second.
