We’re on a tight budget and we’re thinking of different ways to cut costs. Is it really that bad to have a cash bar at the wedding reception?
Cash bars really should be avoided at wedding receptions because wedding guests are already extending themselves financially to be at the wedding (either by travel or by the voluntary wedding gift).
When wedding guests have to pay for their drinks, the couples are often viewed as “greedy”. The only possible alternative to a cash bar would be to have a voluntary drink that wedding guests can pay for with proceeds going to a charity. If budget is tight, it is better to limit the amount or types of drinks offered rather than making your guests pay for them.
