The groom’s parents are sharing the cost of the wedding with the bride’s parents. Can the groom’s parents names appear on the wedding invitation? We were told that it is proper etiquette to have only the bride’s parent’s names appear. Is this correct?
Traditionally, only the bride’s parents names appear on the wedding invitation. This is because they were the only ones to host the wedding.
However, in modern day times, it has become more common for couples themselves to host their own wedding or for both sets of parents to host the wedding. Couples nowadays may also want to acknowledge both sets of parents in the wedding invite. For such reasons, it is perfectly acceptable to have both the names of both sets of parents on the wedding invitation.
It may look something like this:
Mr. and Mrs. bride’s parents
and
Mr. and Mrs. groom’s parents
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their children
Anne
and
John
etc.
