I’d like to have plenty of time to work on my seating plan for the reception. How soon should my wedding invitations be mailed out?
For wedding invitations, depending on how much time you have before the wedding date, it’s a good idea to send them out at least 8 – 10 weeks before the wedding. That will give your guests plenty of time to rsvp. It will also give your out of town guests time to prepare.
Note: This also means you have to keep an eye on when your wedding invitations will be ready for you. Make sure you get them with enough time to address them all and to send them to your wedding guests.
It is best to order more wedding invitations than you think you really need. You may need extra invitations or envelopes to cover potential spelling mistakes or if additional guests are to be invited to the wedding. If you were to re-order a few wedding invitations, it often will cost you more.
Make sure you have also done your bridal registry before the invitations go out. Eager wedding guests will want a head start on shopping for you, but whatever you do, DO NOT INCLUDE THE BRIDAL REGISTRY on your wedding invite. It can be offensive to guests.
