When the parents are divorced, where do they sit?

The groom’s parents are divorced. The groom’s father has remarried but the groom’s mother has not. Where should they be sitting at the church?

It really depends on your culture along with how well your family gets along with one another. Check with family members to determine if there are cultural understandings that need to be followed regarding seating arrangements.

In a typical Christian ceremony, when the groom’s parents are divorced, the person who raised you would sit in the first pew at the church (on the right when facing the altar). If mom raised the groom, she would sit in the first pew. The groom’s father who is remarried would then sit in the third pew with his spouse. If the groom grew up with his father, then the seating arrangements would reverse.
